The procurement includes excavation and nature conservation works, mechanical clearing and whole-tree harvesting as well as local transport on nature conservation areas. Primarily, the works are part of the Helmi environmental programme. Excavation works may include the restoration of ditch areas, where the water management of ditched mire areas is restored by blocking ditches as well as with dam structures, surface water structures and other necessary measures. Additionally, excavation works may include the creation of firebreaks as well as excavation works carried out on heritage biotopes and in peatland environments. Mechanical clearing includes felling and bucking work with a harvester. Whole-tree harvesting includes felling and bucking work, as well as piling and local transport. Usually, clearing and whole-tree harvesting are carried out on ditched mire areas before the ditches are blocked, in which case trees that would hinder the ditch filling are cleared from the ditch lines. Depending on the work site, the cleared trees are either left in the terrain or transported away. Restoration excavation works and whole-tree harvesting works may include, in addition to the aforementioned works, other excavation works, mechanical clearing, whole-tree harvesting or local transport included in Metsähallitus' Luontopalvelut's remit and related to nature conservation. A total of six (6) contractors will be selected through the tender. The selected contractors will be used during the contract period according to the tender request attachment 6 (Puitejärjestelyn toimintamalli) and attachment 7 (Sopimusluonnos). The works carried out during the Puitejärjestelyn period are primarily approved three times a year. The division of the procurement area with maps and the estimated quantities of work have been presented in the tender request attachment 2 (Työmääräarviot ja osa-aluejako). The purchaser is not bound by the estimates of work quantities presented in the tender request and its attachments. The planned start date of the contract is 1.1.2027.
