The municipality of Bernhardswald plans to expand the Bernhardswald primary school for the full-day care of the pupils. As part of a feasibility study, several locations for the extension were examined and evaluated. The approved preliminary design for the cooperative full-day care in the form of an extension provides for the dining hall, kitchen, a cloakroom area and a barrier-free toilet to be attached to the existing corridor zone in the northeast of the school building. In this context, the existing break hall will also be enlarged. Since the school building is a split-level, the installation of a lift is also envisaged by moving a staircase landing. In addition, existing rooms of the nursery and the midday care in the basement of the primary school will be included in the room programme for the cooperative full-day care. To enable the necessary stay areas for full-day care and lunch for up to 160 pupils, the following new or refurbishment measures are planned for the existing school building: Stay areas for full-day care with e.g. reading nook, homework and music area with 305 m², a supply kitchen as a preparation kitchen incl. ancillary rooms with 55 m² as well as a dining hall in two-shift operation with 120 m². In addition, the existing break hall will be enlarged by 89 m² and the playground will be restored to 808 m² after the refurbishment. The costs of the measure are currently estimated at around 5.85 million € gross. This cost framework is to be adhered to. Important planned time milestones: • Submission of grant application and building permit application in June/July 2027 • Tendering and award in September/October 2027 • Start of construction execution March 2028 • Completion by the start of the school year 2030/2031 at the latest. The services will be awarded in stages. The appointment is made for the performance phases 2–9 in stages. Initially, only LP 2 and 3 will be awarded, then optionally in stages the further performance phases. There is no entitlement to the award of further performance phases/stages. The bidder cannot derive a claim for additional remuneration from the staged appointment. The call-off of further stages must be made in writing. During the construction work, the regular school day is to be ensured. Particular attention must be paid to a very well-structured and compliant construction sequence to efficiently utilise, for example, holiday weeks.
