For the two new Berlin funding areas of Zehlendorf-Mitte (Steglitz-Zehlendorf) and Wilmersdorfer Straße (Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf), the commercial street management will be tendered in lots. The inclusion of the named funding areas in the federal-state funding programme Lebendige Zentren (LZ) took place on 02.09.2025 with a senate resolution. The Lebendige Zentren (LZ) funding programme focuses on the adaptation, revitalisation and strengthening of centres. To achieve the objectives, in addition to development through construction measures in public spaces and upgrading of social infrastructure, commercial street management can also be used to provide support. The commercial street management accompanies the time-limited further development and transformation process of a centre and supports network building. The framework for implementation is the respective integrated urban development concept (ISEK), in which guidelines and objectives are defined. These can be specified by a district-specific commercial street concept and measures.
