On the site of the former marshalling yard in Hamburg-Eidelstedt, the first ICE workshop of Deutsche Bahn in Germany was officially commissioned on 26 April 1991. The core of the workshop is a 430 meter long and 65 meter wide hall. The ICE 1, the ICE 4 and the locomotive of the Class 101 are based at Werk Eidelstedt. In addition, the ICE T (Class 411) is increasingly maintained. The use of the ICE is characterized by high mileage. To ensure timely operation and technical reliability, regular maintenance intervals are scheduled. At Werk Eidelstedt, multiple units are maintained on eight hall tracks, each approximately 400 meters long. The track gauge is approximately 8 meters. All tracks are elevated 2,400 mm above the hall floor and equipped with track bridges for changing wheel sets and bogies. All auxiliary equipment can be freely moved and transported under the elevated tracks. A maximum clearance of 2,000 mm under the tracks applies to all equipment moved on the floor. Consequently, all movable components and machines, as well as parts of machines, must not be higher than 2,000 mm in the operating state. Currently, bogie changes at the Hamburg; Werk Eidelstedt site are carried out on the existing bogie change bridges with existing air-cushion bogie changers and with bogie changers with omnidirectional drive technology from various suppliers. The procurement of an additional bogie changer is the subject of this tendering procedure.
