Description

1. Hafen Wittlager Land GmbH (hereinafter HWL) is the owner of the Hafen Bohmte on the Mittellandkanal. The port is located in the municipality of Bohmte in the Wittlager Land and is directly connected to the Wesel-Datteln-Kanal, the most heavily used inland canal in Germany, as well as the Weser and Elbe. This provides an ideal port connection to the north, east, and to southern Germany. 2. The Hafen Wittlager Land is primarily a transshipment port for feedstuffs and grain, containers, bulk cargo, and to a lesser extent, general cargo and heavy-duty goods. In the area in front of the terminal area to be awarded, there is a public quay loading street of approximately 230 m in length with a port crane facility for non-discriminatory goods handling - use according to the port usage conditions - available. In the eastern part of the port, an area expansion of approximately 4 ha could potentially be carried out in the future. 3. To increase the water-side port handling, a plot of land with an area of approximately 7,933 m2 is to be leased as a bulk cargo handling area (in particular: recycling materials and building materials). The lease agreement will include the obligation to operate the area on a non-discriminatory basis and will be referred to hereafter as the "Concession Agreement Bulk Cargo Handling Area". 4. HWL reserves the right to offer bidders the public non-discriminatory operation of the quay loading street, including the vehicle scale (hereinafter: "Operation Quay Loading Street") or the corresponding separate concession agreement ("Concession Agreement Quay Loading Street") as an optional component of the offer. Reference is made to the explanations under section 4.11 of the Information Memorandum in this regard. 5. For the award of the above-described concession agreement for the bulk cargo handling area (or possibly the two aforementioned concession agreements), HWL is conducting the procedure in question.
