The municipality of Abtsteinach has operated a wastewater treatment plant since 1985, whose original design no longer meets today's requirements for wastewater treatment. Due to stricter legal requirements and ongoing problems with compliance, particularly with phosphorus limit values, the treatment performance is inadequate. The municipality of Abtsteinach has therefore applied to the Steinachtal Wastewater Association to allow the wastewater generated to be discharged into the Steinachtal Wastewater Association's wastewater treatment plant. Connection to the approximately 11 km distant Steinachtal Association wastewater treatment plant can be achieved by building an approximately 3,500 m long pipeline, which will be connected to the AZV Steinachtal network.
