Belgium – Construction work – Ontwerp- en bouwopdracht voor het bouwkundig hoogspannings-kopstation voor het Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg, campus Sint-Jan

The Contracting Authority wishes to use this selection guide to consult the market for the implementation of an integrated design and construction contract (Design & Build) for the construction part of the new high-voltage substation on the Sint-Jan campus. This investment is essential to support the planned expansions of the campus, within the framework of the ZOL Masterplan 2030, and to increase the electrical capacity of the site from approximately 5.3 MVA to 15 MVA, in line with a forward-looking and sustainable energy concept based on heat pumps. The new substation forms a critical link in the energy supply of the hospital campus and functions as a single point of failure, which requires an exceptionally high level of reliability, security, and construction quality. The project includes the complete construction, including design, detailing, and realization, of a functional, cost-efficient, low-maintenance, and burglary-proof building with an estimated area of approximately 600 m², as well as the construction of the necessary access and service roads. With this selection guide, ZOL aims to select candidate design teams and contractors who possess the necessary technical competencies, experience, and organizational capacity to successfully realize this strategically important infrastructure project. The contract will be further detailed in the second phase of the award procedure, namely the qualification phase.
