The complex consisting of an indoor swimming pool and a multi-purpose hall, with a net floor area of 3,242 m2 in the Urexweiler district of Marpingen, has played an important role in teaching swimming, school swimming, club sports, disabled sports and community life since its opening in the 1960s. Over 17,000 visitors per year attest to this. The building no longer meets current technical, energy and functional requirements. Many components, technical installations and surfaces have reached or exceeded their lifespan. There are also significant restrictions in the area of accessibility (no disabled-accessible entrance and toilet facilities). Both the indoor swimming pool and the multi-purpose hall require comprehensive modernisation.
