The Fraunhofer Society is establishing an independent research institute for battery cell research and production at the Münster site - the Research Factory Battery Cell Münster (FFB for short). The aim of the FFB is to reduce the development effort for the high-volume production of the latest lithium-ion battery cells. In this way, the FFB will significantly reduce the risk for industrial partners in transferring new cell concepts and production technologies to large-scale production and significantly lower the barriers to entry for new manufacturers. In addition, the FFB is intended to contribute to securing the qualification of specialist personnel for battery cell production in the medium and long term.
