The municipality of Gleichen plans the construction of a new fire station in the district of Bremke. This involves replacing an existing building that no longer meets the structural requirements of, for example, the Fire Service Accident Insurance Fund. There is, among other things, a lack of the necessary space for the emergency services, and the required separation of clean and dirty areas is not feasible. The new building is to meet the needs of a fire station and at the same time support the merger of the local fire departments Bremke and Ischenrode. The construction of a building with parking spaces for four emergency vehicles and space for the corresponding equipment of a fire station in Lower Saxony is planned. Another objective is to create modern working conditions for the volunteer emergency services through the new building. For the purpose of the new building, an undeveloped plot of land has been acquired on the southeastern edge of the village of Bremke, which, due to its location on a state road, enables quick access to a supra-regional road network.
