The municipality of Kerkrade currently has an occupational health services (OHS) agreement that will end on 31 December 2026. As of 1 January 2026, the municipality of Kerkrade will have approximately 525 employees located at multiple sites within the municipality. The organisation consists of three domains with various departments, led by three directors and multiple department heads. The clerk's office supports the municipal council. In total, there are approximately forty managers working within the organisation. The municipality operates under the self-management model. This means that the organisation is itself responsible for managing the absence process. Managers carry out absence guidance, supported by the Arbo & Personnel Care advisor, who advise on absence cases. The occupational physician has an advisory, not a decision-making, role within this model.
