The study area is located in the 9.0 m waterway and port of Vaasa in Vaasa. The purpose of the geotechnical investigations, which are the subject of the contract, is to determine the subsoil conditions for the design of the waterway deepening. The geotechnical investigation works include soundings (vibrocore and percussion drilling), soil sampling, and laboratory testing of these. The works are carried out from a workboat with a minimum of 3 legs, which can support a maximum depth of approximately -18 m. The sounding depth is a maximum of -16.0 m N2000. Based on the geotechnical investigations, the aim is to determine the location of the rock surface and soil layer boundaries as well as soil types and their dredgability. Additionally, sediment samples will be taken from the design area. The planned dredging level for the outer part of the waterway is -12.0 m N2000 and for the inner part -11.5 m N2000. The description of the geotechnical investigations is evident from the geotechnical investigation program, which is an annex to the tender notice. Sediment sampling and partial analysis should be carried out in the autumn of 2026 and the remaining works by spring 2027 at the latest. The procurement complies with the law on public procurement and the use of rights agreements (1397/2016, procurement law). The procurement is carried out using the open procedure in accordance with the procurement law. The procurement is a service procurement exceeding the EU threshold.
