The products are necessary for the project „Research and experimental infrastructure activities for the demonstration of lead-cooled fast reactor technology – 4ALFRED” under the 2021-2027 Smart Growth, Digitalisation and Financial Instruments Programme, for the purpose of carrying out research and development activities (experiments, analyses and numerical simulations related to the Meltin’Pot facility defined in the 4ALFRED project) that address a hitherto unexplored practical domain concerning: the interaction of MOX-type nuclear fuel with molten lead, the redistribution of fuel in molten lead in the event of extensive failure of fuel rod cladding, the retention of fission products in lead, and/or their migration into the cover gas, the investigation of the retention in lead of polonium isotopes (Po), with particular emphasis on 210Po.
