Description

Extreme weather events and climate change are already posing significant challenges to transport systems worldwide. With advancing climate change, it is expected that extreme weather events will occur more frequently in the future and potentially cause greater damage. Therefore, adapting transport infrastructure to climate change is a necessary condition to ensure that the transport system remains efficient and reliable under future climatic conditions. In this context, a catalogue of adaptation measures is to be developed, which will provide a solid foundation that can be used for case studies of implemented measures as well as for the future prioritisation, selection and implementation of measures in practice. In a first step, information on intermodal hotspots (KV-Terminals and areas where several transport modes are in close proximity to each other) in the German transport network will be compiled. Based on this, in a second step, adaptation measures already implemented at the hotspots will be researched and supplemented and evaluated with further possible adaptation measures. Finally, the adaptation options will be summarised, categorised and evaluated in a catalogue.
